The Microsoft installation wizard tool has been updated to update eligible computers to Windows 11 if they don’t get the first version through Windows Update.

In Windows 11, the “installation wizard” is a tool that was developed to install a new version of the operating system on a laptop or desktop computer that, for unknown reasons, does not receive an update via Windows Update, but the hardware and software configuration meets the minimum requirements meets the new edition.

In addition, as of this version, the installation wizard replaces the Media Creation Tool to create an in-place upgrade, as the tool is now only available for creating bootable media.

It is never recommended to update a system in the early days of rollout, and even more so when the computer still has not received a Windows update notification. However, if you can’t wait, here are the steps you can take to update your device.

  1. Download the installation wizard from the Windows 11 Installation Wizard section by clicking Download now Button of the Microsoft software support download page.
  2. Double click on that Windows 11 installation wizard.exe File to start the tool.
  3. Press the Accept and install Button to start the installation.
  4. Once the tool confirms that the hardware and software configurations are compatible, the Windows 11 files will be downloaded to the computer. Then click on Start anew Button to complete the installation.

Typically, the installation wizard should take less than an hour to complete.

Also, make sure to use this guide before proceeding to avoid problems and errors during the upgrade process. Additionally, while the tool provides a non-destructive installation process, it is recommended that you take a full backup before making any system changes.
